If a users current /home directory will not boot the next version of Sam, it is quite obviously useless.Having to reinstall the entire base to upgrade versions is inexcusable and incompetent. Being careful about my Linux install I have installed Debian and enjoy seamless upgrades. You&amp;#39;ve obviously missed my point about new users being unfortunate enough to stumble upon wishy washy distros like this and giving up on Linux for good.The first words on Sam&amp;#39;s web page are stable, secure,easy, fast, and free. Stable and easy - really ? On what planet is that ? You will need to back up your vital files and gut the system to upgrade. There won&amp;#39;t be a big change. As a matter of fact, just think of it as a rebased PCLinuxOS on a newer Mandriva core. The PCLinuxOS community simply forked and Unity Linux is the result. Unity Linux is not a distro in and of itself, but merely a distro to base off of. It doesn´t matter if they change the base since I will be using Sam at least for the coming year. I don´t think that they will be releasing sooner. If they build on Unity that would be a big plus for both. For Unity, because it seems to be a good base and now having a strong distro with a name supporting their XFCE and for SAM because they can keep offering a userfriendly linux distribution because of unity. Time will tell but it sure will be a good future that I am looking forward too. It's pointless installing an OS that is...</title><content type='html'>I&amp;#39;ll pass. It&amp;#39;s pointless installing an OS that is going to change it&amp;#39;s base distro.  Given the huge lag in between Sam releases, it was silly of them to waste resources on this release. What if they change their minds again, what then ? Another clean install and lost /home dicertory?
